Born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia, Sofya Brdotyan’s culinary journey began with a solid academic foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Armenian National Agrarian University, specializing in the Technology of Bread, Confectionery, and Pasta Production.
Sofya launched her professional career at Tizziano, a luxury pastry café and shop in Yerevan, where she managed the European pastry assortment. Driven by a relentless desire to refine her craft, she embarked on an international educational journey in 2015, traveling to Spain to attend the Basic Pastry Course at the International Pastry School of Barcelona, led by Maria Selyanina. Recognizing her dedication and talent, she was invited to stay for a three-month practical internship with Maria Selyanina’s elite team.
Her pursuit of mastery didn't stop there. Over the years, Sofya has continuously upgraded her skills by learning from global industry icons:
May 2019: Completed specialized courses in mousse cakes and chocolate artistry by Igor Melnikov.
2019: Enhanced her avant-garde decorating techniques at the renowned Tortiki Annushka academy in Moscow.
International Masterclasses: Gained invaluable experience in the art of Eclairs and Choux pastry under the guidance of Joakim Prat, and mastered modern dessert design with Karim Bourgi in Dubai.
Enriched by these global perspectives, Sofya returned home to bring her vision to life. In 2017, alongside her family, she laid the foundation for SoHo Patisserie and Chocolaterie, located at 24 Saryan Street.
Today, SoHo offers an exquisite selection of over 170 types of pastries. What began as a career has truly transformed into Sofya’s lifetime passion, bringing world-class pastry art straight to the heart of Yerevan.
